The brave new world of High Tech, High Def
Post by: daviddennis - Date: 2009-04-16T20:32:52.000-08:00 Author's Rating: 4.00 rating
Pros: It's affordable high definition. Impressive image quality.
Cons: It's a consumer gadget, so it lacks the great controls of more expensive cameras.
The Bottom Line: If used properly, you can get superb images from this camera. The tiny size means poor ergonomics for anyone wanting artistic or professional results. Unbeatable for the price and size.

Time to upgrade to an HD flash-based camcorder
Post by: redmonddad - Date: 2008-12-18T15:33:13.000-08:00 Author's Rating: 4.00 rating
Pros: Image quality, optical stabilization, size
Cons: Grip comfort, low life for included battery
The Bottom Line: If you need the image quality, then this is a good choice. If you only need an entry level, then consider the FS10 and it's superior portability and handling.

Canon Vixia HF-100
Post by: rapcon - Date: 2008-10-23T17:51:46.000-08:00 Author's Rating: 5.00 rating
Pros: Excellent video quality. Edit video in Ulead or Sony Vegas with a reasonable PC.
Cons: Does not have an off camera battery charger Extra battery and off camera charger needed
The Bottom Line: This is an excellent camera. I decided on the HF100 with only the SDHC port and use 16GB SD cards which are very affordable now.

Cons: Awkward ergonomics, poor Optical Image Stabilization, lack of manual focus Poor editing software
The Bottom Line: If you can't wait for competing products from sony and panasonic, then you won't regret the purchase as it is the best memory card hi-def camcorder available for the money.
