Great bargain lens in a versatile range
Post by: andkiich - Date: 2006-10-04T16:06:45.000-08:00 Author's Rating: 4.00 rating
Pros: inexpensive, sharp, good focal length range, metal mount
Cons: slow, can hunt focus in low light, no HSM
The Bottom Line: Good as a walk around lens because of focal length range. Would recommend to anyone who does not have a lot of cash, but needs a good zoom.

Convenience requires compromise
Post by: lawman67 - Date: 2004-02-08T10:19:48.000-08:00 Author's Rating: 4.00 rating
Pros: Very small and light, good flare and distortion control, inexpensive (paid $260)
Cons: Slow, manual focusing takes some concentration, distortion at focal length extremes
The Bottom Line: It doesn't replace a bag of good primes or even pro-level zooms, but nothing else can offer as much versatility in as small and light a package.
