Buy Cameras - Canon's state of the art 580EX II Speedlite is fully compatible with the electronics of Canon EOS Digital&Film SLRs including Canon's E-TTL, E-TTL II&TTL dedication. This top-of-the-line flash is as good as it gets with more power, faster recycling time, more automatic and professional modes for creative effects, plus improved dust- and water-resistance. The 580EX II's auto-zoom head automatically adjusts to lenses from wide-angle to telephoto and a built-in ultra-wide angle panel provides flash coverage for a 14mm lens. The height of the 580EX helps to greatly reduce or eliminate red-eye and its flash head bounces and swivels for professional-looking portraits.

Horrible Flash
Post by: kevinparry - Date: 2008-10-19T23:32:20.000-08:00 Author's Rating: 1.00 rating
Pros: Good under controlled conditions when you need little more than a 3 shot burst
Cons: Rubbish with uncontrolled conditions when you need more than a 3 shot burst
The Bottom Line: I recommend Nikon over Canon, which is hard for me to admit because I have had Canon brand loyalty for 15 years.

Post by: suemccartin - Date: 2005-10-10T11:37:52.000-08:00 Author's Rating: 4.00 rating
Pros: Full Canon functionality with all bodies (dig and film)
Cons: Expensive, accessories expensive
The Bottom Line: If you can afford it buy this, if you can't quite, get the 550EX. Now a year later, there may be better 3rd party units.
